Quality Control Manager (QCM)

The QCM must have a vision into the plastic color and masterbatch market and an understanding of key competencies (customer, technology, know-how) and capabilities (skills, raw materials-pigments, dyes, processes, technology, performance windows) of the product lines and company so that the proper resource allocation is established and managed to accomplish strategic plans in response to dynamic market demands. Support and maintain ISO 9001 certification, production, and sales departments by ensuring the highest standard of excellence for our products. Support supply chain, production, and shipping departments by qualifying incoming materials. QCM will lead a team of lab technicians to the successful implementation of company quality objectives.

Technology Director (TD)

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Provide leadership in Quality Control and maintain a standard of excellence.
    • Run and supervise all quality control checks in a timely manner.
    • Provide prompt status updates to key team members on QC progress and issues.
    • Train and supervise new hires within the department.
    • Ongoing QC training & guidance for any team members with under 4 years of experience in the department.
    • Execute continuous improvement of QC processes and timelines.
    • Oversee and update all documents and records in a neat and organized fashion.
    • Ensure that all QC data & assets are recorded and stored in the appropriate locations digitally and physically.
    • Work with the department to implement organizational improvements.
  2. Investigate quality issues and customer complaints.
    • Determine root causes.
    • Work with team members to develop corrective and preventative actions as needed.
    • Maintain and implement Corrective actions.
    • Streamline and prioritize Quality Control for production orders – Quality is job number 1; the goal is 0% of defective products ship to customers. Avoid quality issues at all costs at the customer.
  3. Supervise qualification of raw materials.
    • Evaluate new raw materials for qualification.
    • Demonstrate flexibility on qualification queues, as requirements are fluid and will be decided by purchasing.
    • Ensure that new raw materials meet current process and color standards for existing products.
    • Look for variances and make sound decisions on troubleshooting issues.
    • Provide a detailed report with recommendations on the qualification test results to the TD.
    • The TD will base raw material decisions on QCM qualification reports.
  4. Maintain all components related to the ISO 9000:2015 Quality Management System
    • Maintaining all records for ISO.
  • Oversee and update all ISO documents and records in a neat and organized fashion.
  • Ensure approved Wet and Chip Standards are recorded and stored in the appropriate file locations.
  • Numerical data for approved STD’s will be stored and identified.
  • Proper document control procedures will be followed and maintained.
    • Responsible for handling all corrective actions, including, notifying the customer that a complaint has been received within 24 Hrs, analyzing the complaint, troubleshooting the issue, preparing a corrective action plan & report, reviewing your report and recommendations with key personnel.

QUALIFYING & REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. Minimum 5+ years of experience in quality control.
  2. Minimum 5+ years of experience in the plastics industry.
  3. Excellent color vision.
  4. Ability to interact with lab, production, supply chain, and sales to facilitate developments, investigate complaints, and develop corrective actions.
  5. Proven ability to resolve technical and quality issues.
  6. Ability to stand for the majority of shifts.
  7. Ability to lift 40lbs.
  8. Strong communication skills in English & Spanish preferred.
  9. Comfortable and efficient working independently.
